The courses offered in the JSS are a blend of technical and employability skills. This enables the beneficiaries in learning the right

 set of skills to be utilised for gainful self/wage employment. The Directorate of JSS (DJSS) has developed suitable job roles for the JSS clientele. The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) has approved 15 Qualifications / Courses for the JSS scheme, which have been aligned with National Skill Qualification Framework levels 2 and 3.

In India, JSSs are now offering

 50 courses in 23 Sectors, which have local market demand in the field. JSS Narendrapur has been given approval to run 14 courses in 11 sectors having local needs and feasibility as listed below.

Other activities

The activities are conducted by Jan Shikshan Sansthan of the Ashrama for social mobilization and sensitization of the target group population in the process of development. Generally, the resource persons with the help of the collaborating organizations in respective areas select the events and the activities other than training for skill development. The programme functionaries, local eminent personalities, dignitaries and others are invited in such programme to deliver lecture as well to discuss on the subjects specified for the events. As per notification of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, following activities are taken up for mobilization and advocacy of the target group:

  • World Health Day (7th April)

  • May Day 1st May)

  • International Yoga Day (21st June)

  • World Youth Skills Day (15th July)

  • Independence Day (15th August)

  • Gandhi Jayanti/Swachh Bharat (2nd October)

  • World AIDS Day (1st December)

  • Republic Day (26th January)

  • International Mother Language Day (21st February)

  • International Women’s Day (8th March)

Organizing programmes for such other local important days/issues, activities, etc., which will promote the goals and activities of Skill India, as will be intimated by the MSDE, Government of India for the national/international days/events.

The activities are conducted for the beneficiaries to gear up their motivation and activate them for the following:

  • Broadening their outlook

  • Promoting understanding of their problems and potentials

  • Generating self-confidence and determination for coping with challenging situation

  • Generating healthy competitive attitude

  • Manifesting their creativity and inherent quality
